One of Cherrie’s first jobs, as a museum curator, in the early 1980s, was to pack felted items, which had formed part of a recent exhibition. She was fascinated by this versatile natural fibre, which had been used, in many parts of the world, to make both 2D and 3D, practical and decorative items. Ever since, she has explored feltmaking, as one element in her mixed media toolkit, along with other fabrics, paper an found objects to represent her observations and feelings.
